Architem was formed in the spring of 1986, by Andrea Wolff, Elizabeth Shapiro, and Magda Kuskowski, after close collaboration since 1983.

Specializing in residential design, including new construction, renovations and interior design, Architem has received numerous awards as well as being featured in various architectural and interior design publications. The firm has developed skills to understand and assimilate the homeowners' needs and to develop creative architectural solutions resulting in cohesive and unified architecture and interior design.

Their professional services include program planning, conceptual design, design development, cost control, technical documents, specifications and construction supervision. To ensure the "whole design approach" to the project, interior design, built-ins, materials and colour selection constitute a part of their basic services.

Design quality in architecture and problem solving are the challenges that motivate Architem. Its philosophy is to extract clues from the existing built environment and to incorporate them into new designs to complement rather than compete with the surroundings.
