Putting On The Glitz Bedroom

Leafed Fabric Lampshade

Tools And Materials Needed

  • Lampshade
  • Acrylic Spray-on Sealer
  • Piece of paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Dry Size
  • Silver metallic Leaf
  • Soft brush

Getting Started

  1. Spray the fabric shade with a coat of acrylic spray sealer to help lay down all of the little fuzzy bits, and make it smooth.
  2. Place the shade upside down on the piece of paper, and draw around the circumference with the pencil.
  3. Cut out the circle with scissors. Fold the paper in half, then half it again, then again, then again
  4. Open it up and put it on the top of the shade. Mark lightly with a pencil where all of the lines are, on the shade.
  5. Cut the regular dry sizing transfer in thin strips the width of the area between the lines on the template, and the length of the shade. Attach it at the top and the bottom. Burnish the transfer going always in one direction, from top to bottom. When it is all transferred onto the shade, apply the silver leaf, then remove the excess with a soft brush.

N.B. The colours used for the finishes may appear slightly different on your television screen than they do in reality.
