      STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
       FAUX LEATHER WALLS

    TOOLS AND MATERIALS NEEDED

    • Dark red water-based paint
    • Big paint brush
    • Large piece of lace
    • Mask
    • Gold spray paint
    • Raw Sienna artist's oil
    • Burnt sienna artist's oil
    • Paint thinner
    • Rag
    • Piece of brown paper

    Getting Started:

    Apply a first coat of the base colour and let dry.

    Apply the second coat of the same colour very roughly, leaving brush marks, lumps and bubbles. Leave to dry about 4 hours.

    Choose a piece of lace that you like, and spray the back of the piece with spray glue. Lay it onto the painted surface, and smooth it out.

    Wearing a mask, spray gold paint over the entire surface. Remove the lace and leave to dry.

    Squeeze a bit of raw sienna and burnt sienna artist's oil onto a plate. Add a small amount of thinner.

    Dab a rag into the plate, and rub the oils over the surface quite loosely.

    Rub in the artist's oil with a piece of brown paper, taking the excess off in the process.
