      (Part 2) 

      STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
      KITCHEN FLOOR BORDER


    TOOLS AND MATERIALS NEEDED

    • Low-tack tape
    • Pale green paint
    • Glaze
    • Computer designs
    • Paint brush (2")
    • Rags
    • Pencil
    • Graphite or carbon paper
    • Soft grey paint
    • Indelible green marker
    • Artist brush
    • Water-based varnish
    • 400 grit sandpaper


    Getting Started...

    1. Measure out and mark off an approximate 6" border around your floor.

    2. Colorwash the border with a soft green glaze. (1 part paint to 1 part glaze)

    3. Soften the colorwash with a rag. Let dry.

    4. Using the clip art designs taken from the computer, trace them onto the border with graphite or carbon paper.

    5. Paint the forms with a soft grey paint and an artist's brush. Let dry.

    6. Outline the pictures with an indelible green marker.

    7. Varnish your floor with 5-6 coats. Sand lightly in between coats with 400 grit sandpaper to give the floor a smooth surface.
