This floor was painted onto Russian birch plywood. We used that kind because it has a very small grain and is smoother than regular plywood. You can, however, use regular plywood. It just requires extra sanding. Getting Started... 1. Prime the floor with a good quality alkyd primer. Let it dry for 24 hours. 2. Basecoat with two coats of cream colored latex paint. Let dry.
3. Make a glaze of 1 part ochre latex paint and 1 part latex glaze. 4. Brush the glaze on in a random fashion, then push the paint around and texture it with a cotton rag. Get rid of any of the brush marks. Push the
glaze around to create creases. Let dry. [main] [
