      (Part 2)

      STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
      KITCHEN FLOOR

    TOOLS AND MATERIALS NEEDED

    • Primer
    • Cream colored latex paint
    • Glaze
    • Ochre latex paint
    • Wide paint brush
    • Rags

This floor was painted onto Russian birch plywood. We used  that kind because it has a very small grain and is smoother than regular plywood.  You can, however, use regular plywood. It just requires extra sanding.

    Getting Started...

    1. Prime the floor with a good quality alkyd primer. Let it dry for 24 hours.

    2. Basecoat with two coats of cream colored latex paint. Let dry.

    3. Make a glaze of 1 part ochre latex paint and 1 part latex glaze.

    4. Brush the glaze on in a random fashion, then push the paint around and texture it with a cotton rag. Get rid of any of the brush marks. Push the glaze around to create creases. Let dry.
